Americas First Write In Candidate Wins in 08

With many conservatives, and maybe liberals, not really finding a candidate to support in this election do you think that with enough grass roots efforts America could pull off a Write In Candidate? If there were someone who at least 51% of Americans trusted to lead this Nation we could write them in. The first time in America's history that a candidate wouldnt have to run for office, raise funds, or debate. Someone who already has a long list of credentials with the American people and who isnt afraid of doing what it takes to straighten out this Democracy. All that would matter is whether or not the written in candidate would accept the position.

I have one man in mind. Who do you think of?

Beards Cause Stock Market to Tank

Every two years there is a beard growing alliance called Whiskerino. The premise for this so called contest is for men of all ages to grow their beards from November 1st to February 28th, 29th this year due to it being Leap Year. The beard growers upload a picture a day to the Whiskerino website. There are theme days where all can participate or they can post an independent picture if they so choose. The members can vote on each others beards by giving them points or "crowns". The server tallies the votes at the end of the day awarding the one with the most votes, King Beard. This contest attracts men from all professions. The majority of members are usually affiliated with an Artistic profession.

The time and thought that goes into Whiskerino, prior, during and even afterword takes a ton of preparation. For those members who post regularly there is an estimated 20% drop in overall work production. It would be one thing to just log on and post a picture. But the contestants can rate each others pictures, leave comments, buy beard merchandise in the Bazaar, read others comments, view who's winning King Beard, visit the female spoof site Vaginarino (It is family friendly, just the name isn't) and live chat with members who are logged in, not to mention many other features. Whiskerino isn't just for the members only. There are others who are growing in support of Whiskerino. The limit of participants was capped at 400. Many who wanted to participate could not get in after the cap but they are growing nonetheless. And the many wives, friends and girlfriends who check out the site range in the hundreds, if not the hundred thousands.

This leads me to today's news that the Federal Reserve Chairman lowered the interest rates by 3/4th of a point. Which sent the stock market clamoring to recover. There is talk of a recession and President Bush is preparing to give tax payers some of our own money back. This is all well and good but let me put some rumors to rest. There is no recession happening. You will see the economy rebound by leaps and bounds the first week of March.

With the end of Whiskerino just a month and a few weeks away the National GNP will increase in the areas of shaving cream, electric razors, straight razors, and other bears shaping or shaving products. This "recession" is just a four month hiccup in the economy due to a lack of work production and loss of revenue over aforementioned products not being purchased recently.

In conclusion, there are however rumors that a small contingent of Whiskerino's are planning on growing what they call, The Year Beard. If this happens then it is only inevitable that a recession may occur.

Oprah, New Age, and XM radio.

Interesting read. I have never heard of Warren Smith. I have heard of Oprah. Like I said, take it for what it is, an interesting read. If Warren is speaking the truth about Oprah then it doesnt surprise me about her radio show. But this isnt anything new, Jesus spoke of many false Christ's who would come to decieve his people. I agree with Warrens article on the Biblical principals he mentions. This doesnt surprise God either. Warren makes a good point. Would you as a believer know the difference between New Age thinking and Biblical thinking? Or would you dismiss it becasue Oprah has done so much for so many people and you like watching her show? I like her show sometimes...ok, I hardly ever watch it. Unless I am at the Y working out and its on the TV in front of me.

Kid Quotes and other Quips.

Kid Quotes.

"I dont even have a dog. All I gots are two fish and they dont even talk."

PREFACE: I have a full beard. Today is the first day back at one of my schools and a kindergartener asked...

Kid, "Where'd you get that thing on your face?"
Me, "What thing?"
Kid, motioning with his finger around his mouth, "That thing."
Me, "I bought it at Walmart."
Kid, bewildered look.
Me, "I grew it out of my face. When you get older you will be able to grow one on your face too."
Kid, "Grins from ear to ear."

Waiting for God

Finding the right words is so hard when there's and impending death. When our own actions or inactions may be the cause of our death. This is the price we pay to give into our own vices knowing quite well they may or may not be our demise in due time? Knowing that our own selfishness isn't something to be taken lightly. It's for this reason we abandon family, friends, reason, wise counsel, and even our own humanity each time we give in. One can't wrap their mind around such selfishness. A selfishness that breaks the bonds of marriage, family and friendships. To what end? Ultimately death, but to those around, those family, those friends, that marriage...inevitabley the slow watching of a life wasting away. If it were disease, I could feel sorrow. If it were an accident I could feel sympathy and compassion. If it were sudden death, I could feel regret and loss. When its defiant selfishness that takes this life, I dont know what or how to feel.

There are no words, spoken or thought, that will help. Everything has been said that needs to be said. All the hard conversations have been had, so there will be no regrets. There is only the hope that selfishness will succumb to reason and lead to selflessness. That the prayers prayed will intercede, take root and begin to change a heart that has been on a path far too long for any mortal intervention.

Now we are just left with waiting. Roles have changed, a father is no longer a father, a son is no longer a son, a wife no longer a wife or mother, but all have stepped onto a level playing field as friends, waiting, loving, encouraging.

I am a Weird Bird

When I am home in Mississippi and my family wants to have shrimp, I really dont want to have to peel the shrimp in order to eat them. I will if I have to but I alway push for the peeling process to happen before the cooking process so I can just eat them. Theres just something about having to work for my food when it comes to shrimp...FASTFORWARD...

When I am in Nashville I dont mind working for my food. No, I dont do tricks on the sidewalk. Tonight I went to the gym and ran four and a half miles. Then I went to Kroger and got salad supplies. Heres what I am having for dinner tonight. And heres the work involved...you can do it too.

Ingredients and Prep.

Spinach Salad, bagged, pull the leaves apart.
Pecans, diced
Red Seedless Grapes, dont dice, just chew them
One Roma Apple Diced
Guacamole
Blue Cheese crumbles
Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing
Chicken, Dark Meat thighs, cut up, cooked in a pan with oil and sea salt
You can use white meat if you like.

I am a Weird Bird when it comes to food but I love that God has blessed us with salad and wine.

Top it off with a glass of wine. Macaroni Grills Chianti is my wine of choice.

For a tasty salad that you dont have to prepare...Go to California Pizza Kitchen and order the Walford Salad, the half dish. It has most all these ingredients.
